Privacy Policy
In short: Pinboard Clip does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. Your clipboard history is stored only on your Mac. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The only connection the app makes is to Apple's App Store for the free trial and purchases.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Pinboard Clip app for macOS (the "App") handles information. The App is made by Nguyen Van Long ("we", "us").
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the App. The App has no sign-up or login and never sends what you copy, or anything else, to us or to anyone else.
The App makes no network requests of its own. The only connection is Apple's StoreKit, which the system uses to show prices and handle the free trial and purchases (see section 5). The App does not include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software from us or from anyone else.
2. Information stored only on your Mac
To provide clipboard history, the App saves the following inside its sandbox container on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/com.mailong.pinboardclip/). It never leaves your device:
- Text you copy, and when you copied it.
- Images you copy, saved as PNG files.
- The paths of files you copy, plus macOS bookmarks so the App can preview and paste those files again. The files themselves are not copied.
- Which items you marked as favorites, and your settings (history size, launch at login, folders you granted access to).
You can delete single items (⌘D), clear the history from the menu bar icon (favorites are kept), or remove everything by deleting the App and its container.
3. Passwords and sensitive data
Items that password managers and other apps mark as concealed or transient (for example org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType) are not saved. Some apps don't mark sensitive data this way; you can delete any item from the history at any time.
4. Permissions
- Accessibility (optional). Used only to send a single ⌘V keystroke to paste the item you picked in Quick Paste. The App does not read your screen or record your keystrokes. If you don't grant it, items are still copied and you paste them yourself.
- Folder access (optional). If you grant access to a folder or your disk, the App uses it read-only to preview and re-paste files you copied from apps other than Finder. You can remove access in the App's Settings.
- Launch at login (optional). Registered with macOS only if you turn it on.
5. Purchases
The free 7-day trial and the one-time Pro purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells the App only whether you have started the trial (and when) or bought Pro, so it can unlock features. We never see or receive your payment details, Apple Account or any other personal information.
6. Contacting us
If you write to us through the support page or by email, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message and Mac model. We use it only to reply to you and delete it when it is no longer needed. Support messages are delivered by email using Cloudflare. Please don't include clipboard contents that contain passwords or other private data.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. As the App does not send us any data, there is usually nothing to provide, but you can always contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects what information is collected, we will update the App's privacy details on the App Store before the change takes effect.
